In 1968, during a round of 16 match against Toulon, the yellow and black jersey of Stade Rochelais featured the caravel crest, emblem of the Charente city, for the first time.
The jersey had been yellow and black since the rugby section was founded by US Consul Georges Henry in 1898.
The choice of colours was made by the owner of the Bar des Glacis, Mother Joseph, who knitted black and yellow belts to distinguish the players from the teams.
A wonderful story, just the kind we love at Sport Vintage.
