Pascal Feindouno’s legendary goal at the Parc des Princes, scored in the final minute of the last match of the 1999 season, secured both victory and the league title for Girondins de Bordeaux. The Girondins thus finished one point ahead of their arch-rivals Marseille, whom they had notably beaten 4-1 following a masterclass at Lescure, where Elie Baup’s 4-4-2 formation, featuring the two playmakers (!!) Johan Micoud (1 goal) and Ali Benarbia, had set up the Bordeaux attacking duo of Sylvain Wiltord (who scored a brace) and Lilian Laslandes (1 goal). A fine tribute to Claude Bez, who had passed away three days earlier.
