On 17 May 1970, La Voulte Sportif, a club from a town of 6,000 inhabitants in the Ardèche region, became French champions by beating A.S. Montferrand 3-0.

The victorious XV included the Camberabero brothers, Guy and Lilian, international prop Jean Claude Noble, Michel Savitsky and Romanian player Miahi Wusek.

But the man of the match was Renaud Vialaar, who scored the winning try.
