Pascal Feindouno's legendary goal at the Parc des Princes in the last minute of the final match of the 1999 season secured both victory and the championship title for Girondins de Bordeaux. Girondins finished one point ahead of their archrivals OM, whom they had beaten 4-1 in a spectacular match at Lescure, where Elie Baup's 4-4-2 formation, with two playmakers (!!) Johan Micoud (1 goal) and Ali Benarbia, had set up Bordeaux's attacking duo Sylvain Wiltord (who scored twice) and Lilian Laslandes (1 goal). It was a fitting tribute to Claude Bez, who had died three days earlier.
